Konarka Model 110 was the highest efficiency organic solar cell as measured by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. They built their product on a material called Power Plastic produced on roll to roll manufacturing. Power Plastic solar cells were claimed to be the only solar cells that uses all recyclable materials.

This is an example of a organic solar cell. This type of solar technology allows them to be manufactured on a printing press creating large rolls of solar. What’s even better than that is since it’s organic solar using conventional materials, the special materials needed for general solar production can be eliminated. Maybe in the future they can even be made from compostable plastics.
